Simulation Training Includes:

  • High fidelity human patient simulators include adult male & female, pediatric, neonatal
  • Laparoscopic Training Stations
  • DaVinci® Robotic Surgery – SI
  • Low fidelity task trainers
    • Intubation
    • Central, femoral, arterial lines (Ultrasound)
    • Adult and pediatric lumbar puncture
    • Suture task trainers

High fidelity simulators Gaumard: Victoria, Super Tory, Newborn Hal, Dynamic Lung Hal, and Pediatric Hal.  Elevate (CAE): Adult METI MAN.

Simulation includes, but is not limited to, obstetrical crisis management (Shoulder Dystocia), neonatal resuscitation, PALS review, ACLS review and trauma.

Participants are immersed into life-like situations where practice of urgent or emergent decisions must be made and errors are forgiven. Real-life (simulated) experiences include interdisciplinary teams and critical communication.

A laparoscopic skill curriculum consisting of a combination of didactic and practical applications is used to provide a foundation of knowledge and skills that transition into skills utilized with DaVinci® Robotic Surgery. Laparoscopic training stations are available for use in the LaSR lab for practice exercises.

Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedic, Podiatry and Family Medicine human anatomy procedure labs are conducted monthly in the Douglass Lab. The orthopedic residency has a year-long anatomy curriculum that provides hands on experience for orthopedic residents.
