Program Overview

Welcome to the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residency program at St. Vincent Medical Center. Our program is a 3-year program which accepts 3 residents each year. Our mission is to produce a well-rounded podiatric physician and surgeon who will work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, help raise the stature of the profession and have the desire to teach others both within and outside of the podiatric profession.

Program Aims

  • To produce a well-rounded podiatric physician and surgeon who will work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • To help raise the stature of the profession
  • To inspire residents to teach others both within and outside of the podiatric profession

Program History

Our program was founded in 1978 at Riverside Mercy Hospital and transferred to St. Vincent Medical Center in 2001.

Program Accreditation

The program was re-accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education in 2017.

We are a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA).

In addition to the standard Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency, the added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA) is available with some residencies. These residencies can provide a sufficient volume and diversity in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle procedures and are approved grant an added credential in RRA. Completion of a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with the added credential leads to the RRA certification pathway of ABFAS.
